TL guide. An introductory Today’s Liberia guide, not news reporting.

Residing predominantly in Grand Cape Mount County, the Vai community is distinguished by its unique syllabary, recognised as one of Africa's most prominent indigenous writing systems. This innovative script was developed during the 19th century.

Liberia is a nation rich in cultural diversity, home to sixteen indigenous ethnic groups, each contributing distinct languages, histories, and traditions to the national tapestry. This piece offers a glimpse into the Vai as a vital part of this heritage.

This overview serves as an introductory guide rather than an exhaustive ethnographic study. Cultural practices can vary significantly between communities and families; direct engagement with the Vai people remains the most authentic source of information.
